Organic weed killer!

The chickens are doing their job! Check out this picture!

That is just incredible to me--and to get it that good and clean only took about 5 days! They love all the green stuff and no doubt it is good for them. They eat it and they scratch at the ground. All the while they are pooping--yes I know, yuck--but they scratch that into the ground too so basically they are fertilizing it!

It cost us $100 to build the coop in lumber and materials. It would have been much much cheaper had we used cheaper wood--but it would have needed to be painted to withstand the rain so instead we used cedar--I think that's what it was. Anyway, it doesn't need to be painted. However we should paint the plywood on the coop because that was cheap wood and that will warp in the rain.

We would easily spend $100 on weed killer on all this land and then you get all the poisons in the ground, the animals are eating them and the kids are playing in them....but this is so much better and requires no work on our part! I'm lovin' it!

Apart from the coop--the chickens are cheap. They eat the bugs (whatever few may happen to crawl in their coop) and they eat the weeds, and they eat the half cup of chicken feed (or "scratch" as chicken owners call it--probably cuz they scratch at it!) and whatever fruit or veggies we don't finish. In the picture there is a dried up corn cob.
