Here a chick...there a chick...everywhere a chick chick!

Here is my sweet little baby! You can tell she is just giddy with excitement--you know why? Because today is chick day! (See she is even wearing her baby chick dress to show support :)
That's right! Today we are going to our local stock shop to buy some baby chicks and turkey! I am really excited because they have tons of different kinds--one we will get will even lay blue eggs! She's called an "Aracauna".
When we got to the stock shop we were so excited! The kids wanted to hold all the baby chicks--I had never seen so many! There was 150 of them in a little chick arena! They had two baby pot belly pigs (which I would have bought--they are SO cute--if the shop employees could have given me 1 reason why they would be useful to my farm--but there is not one--they are just pets! You can't eat them (too much fat), they don't eat weeds, and they don't protect the house in any way whatsoever....so I had to leave them behind--but they were cute! a little black one and white one!)
Here are our chicks!

12 to be exact! 10 different baby chicks (hopefully all girls...there's never a guarantee since it is extremely hard to sex chicks but hopefully so since roosters are now my least favorite animal :) and the two big yellow ones on the left are baby turkeys! (called "poults"). The turkeys had a 50-50 chance that they will be girls...but it doesn't matter too much because they're thanksgiving! (obviously it's been long enough now for me to forget my traumatic experience with the "ill-fated cockerel" if I'm already thinking about butchering another bird!)
They are cute and lots of fun to hold. About a week old--you can see they are already starting to get their feather on their wings--how neat that God has them get their feathers on their wings first--the very thing that enables them to fly from predators!

The chicks are so cute but can't hold a candle to your sweet babies.
